Becoming Missionary Disciples
The Church cannot be anything but missionary. Because Jesus sent his followers on mission the Church was born. The Second Vatican Council called the whole Church to an understanding of mission rooted in the life of the Trinity as a sending community. The teaching of the Council moves us beyond a view of mission as “foreign mission” to a deeper view that is an expression of our baptismal identity. The Father sends the Son, the Son sends the Holy Spirit and the Spirit sends us to make God known and loved.
