Finding the Mission Resources You Need
This website is designed to bring the four marks of the Catholic Church to life in your classrooms through the study of the mission to which our Baptism calls us. Each month the resource pages on the site change and add new items for use in teaching the mission objectives. The website sections are explained below:
This section is devoted to the oneness of the People of God and mission of the Church through:
Biblical and encyclical references,
Information from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops
Ideas for explanation of what mission is and how we are called to it.
This section is devoted to the lives of people of faith who devote their lives to mission through:
· Biographies of saints of the past
· Stories of people of faith of the present
· Suggestions for student reflections and reactions
· Hints to encourage children to compare their lives to these holy people
This section is devoted to prayer, offering a variety of:
· Prayers of mission, and missionaries:
· Prayer related to social justice issues
· Christian music and liturgical songs
· Quotes to provoke thoughts of mission with children
This section is devoted to the dignity of the human person and rights of all, offering websites on:
· Social justice issues – i.e. poverty, immigration, refugees etc.
· Student materials on mission through the Holy Childhood Association
· Resources & activities for teachers regarding world cultures and countries
· Mission work throughout the world
· Environmental matters
This section is devoted to being stewards of the earth through:
· Information relating the plight of those living in poverty and the relationship to environmental issues
· Facts regarding our endangered earth and its creatures
· Practical ideas to help children “steward” the earth
This section includes thoughts and practical ideas from the Associate Director/ HCA Coordinator regarding children understanding “mission” through:
· Stories of today’s missionaries in developing countries – “Venturing into the Vineyard”
· Information about the work of the Holy Childhood Association
· Stories of Archdiocesan schools and RE programs getting involved in missions
