Summer Mission Coop

We have a responsibility to respond to the missionary needs of the worldwide Church. Each year, parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago are assigned a mission group as part of the Missionary Cooperation Plan (MCP) summer appeal.

MCP donations are used to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through primary evangelization, as well as to promote and support vocations, faith formation and catechesis, to build churches, seminaries and schools. Missionaries also use some of these funds in direct-service projects such as the building of clinics, hospitals, orphanages, and women’s shelters. This “mission cooperation” of bringing together missionaries and local communities helps to deepen our understanding of our baptismal duty to evangelize the world and bring people to Christ.

About us

The Mission Office, formerly known as the Catholic Missions Office, looks to educate and inspire people to take seriously their baptismal responsibility to be on mission in whatever context they live and work. The Office is at the service of the worldwide Church while remaining firmly rooted in the Archdiocese of Chicago. It also serves as the local representative for the Pontifical Mission Societies: The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, Missionary Childhood Association, The Society of Saint Peter Apostle, and the Missionary Union of Priests and Religious.
