Rev. Fr. Stephen Kofi Sakpaku

Water Project

I am a diocesan priest born on 26th June, 1981 and was ordained on the 14th of August 2010 in the Archdiocese of Accra, Ghana, by Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer Buckle. I worked for two years as an assisting priest at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Derby-Avenue., Accra. I later volunteered to undertake fidei donum contract in the Apostolic Vicariate of Donkorkrom with effect from November 1, 2012. Whiles in Accra I had the opportunity to be appointed chaplain to the Catholic Law Students of Ghana Law School at Makola and Sacred Heart Technical School. In the Donkorkrom Apostolic Vicariate, I have worked as the Director of the Alfons Mertens Pastoral Centre, Donkorkrom, Parish Priest of the St. Theresa Parish, Samanhyia, the Vicariate Bursar a position I held till March 2016 and Currently the Parish Priest of St. Joseph the Worker Parish Maame Krobo.

As someone who believes in giving people the opportunity to develop their God given talents, I was touched by a documentary I watched on the history of Afram Plains. After that documentary, I was inspired to go to Donkorkrom Apostolic Vicariate to offer my help with grace of God. Though the place is deprived and it is difficult working there, God has been good and faithful to me.

The Kitchen in the prison

Since November 1, 2012 I have not only been a priest celebrating the sacraments, I have engaged in almost all sectors of human endeavour in the Apostolic Vicariate of Donkorkrom. I have played advocacy roles, offered sponsorship to brilliant but needy students, been an ambulance driver, engaged in youth formation, etc.

Pastoral ministry

I have an elaborate pastoral programme aimed at developing the faith of the people. I organise bible sharing, faith formations, and prayer sessions among others. Through friends and other well-wishers, I have built a church at Koranteng Krachi, and have also raised money to roof the St. Joseph the Worker Church Maame Krobo. I was able play host to 170 University of Cape Coast students to support in rural Evangelisation. I have empowered many out stations within my jurisdiction. I have built a grotto in Bebuso with the support of Ave Maria Group Tema community, and currently I am developing a new one at Bonkro.

Education

I offer scholarship to 20 students in various levels of education in Ghana. Through my effort, I was able to raise funds with the support of Ghana Commercial Bank to construct a six-class room unit block in Sawuah which is due for commissioning in September or October this year. I offer career programmes for final year students. Currently I am seeking sponsorship to put up another unit block for Alezuma School in Kwahu South District of Afram Plains. The following sites gives you my involvement in education within the Vicariate.
